Medju Seshet - The Word of the Goddess
When Voices in Spirit say do something, and I get the goose bumps, I usually do it. I don't often know why. Like years ago now, I heard a voice say "You need to start a blog called "The Goddess and the Open Book Test," and I thought 'That's a silly name. Why would I start a blog called that?'
And she said, "Because I say so. … You'll see."
So I did. And now I see. The Word of the Goddess (Medju Seshet) started out with my telling stories about trips to Egypt, then announcing writing classes, and now here I am several years later having completed a book (February 14th- Kiss me) called Medju Seshet: The Lady's Book of Oracles.*
It began with classes I taught in Hieroglyphic Thinking, which kept expanding and then went straight into automatic writing and the book began to take shape. It offers up the 30 years of study I've done with the Egyptian hieroglyphs. In addition, I've created a series of meditations for each glyph. It also offers ways to use the hieroglyphs as oracles. I hope to place them on a deck of cards and offer those as well as the book. And there are ways to do the layouts.
So as if that massive project weren't enough the Goddess said, "I want you to start a priestess school." I said, "What? I can't do that. I'm too busy. I'm not all That!" And then she reminded me of a dream that I had had in which Lady Olivia Robertson, of the Fellowship of Isis, came to me in a dream and said "What will you do for the Fellowship of Isis?" and I told her Lady Olivia, whatever you ask. "Done," she said and disappeared.
So now the voice of the Goddess comes back and says to me, "You already agreed. You said you would do it. Now is the time."
So now Is the Time! I began a school wherein those who love the Goddess can come to study, and perhaps be ordained if they choose. I didn't know what to call it until I stood outside my favorite little spot in Edfu where Seshet kept the temple prayers on scrolls, and I was leading the meditation with my travelers to receive their Akashic record from Seshet. Someone took my picture and there was standing across from me, a cluster of orbs that as I looked at them created the outline of the Goddess herself. The school is called PAHS * or Per Ankh Het Seshet translated as The House of Life in the Temple of Seshet.
And I reckon I'll create a new blog on that. She seems to be talking to me. I better be listening.
* Book will be published by Bear&Co/Inner Traditions Fall 2019 I hope.
And she said, "Because I say so. … You'll see."

WORKING WITH PURPOSE: An Exploration of Spiritual Autobiography
Lately I’ve been waking from deep dreams with the startling realization that after 64 years I am still in this body, and many of my friends are not. I wake with the deep recognition that I shall not always be here. Are you feeling the unanswered questions, too? "My Purpose Is... What have I learned in this journey thus far? Have I engaged with my life as my soul required?"
I find myself going to the bookshelf the moment I leap from bed and I pull down one of my journals
from the shelf. I’ve kept a journal since I was nine and while my life has not
always been well-crafted prose of my experience, it is my journey. And this is the work I
have done--sometimes well and sometimes not so well--to become the person I am thus far.
This body is a
container for memory. But often the feeling that our experiences are
ours alone leads us into isolation and loneliness. A study of transpersonal
astrology has shown me that my experiences are not so dissimilar from the
experiences of other women at my various ages. Clinging to one’s personal experience leads
to misunderstanding. Rather than imagining that we are writing our daily doings,
imagine that the story we inhabit has been written by a divine hand. Imagine
that as we share our stories with others, we build strength as a group of
awakening souls.
Imagine the Akashic record keepers,
writing upon tablets that contain the story of our lives, the story of a divine
being sent down to earth to inhabit a form and to do some work that really
matters. Our world is composed of the combined stories of all those beings of
light whose souls manifest in commitment to the Great Work.
Writing your spiritual autobiography
means to come to that deep level of understanding that our life is part of a
larger story. Our life is the story of a living, sentient being called Earth. I am calling you to come and write with me. I am calling you to add your voice to a planetary chorus.
Please join me on February 10, 2018 at _______ Southland Drive in Lexington, Kentucky for a
day of Writing Spiritual Autobiography. We begin at 9:30 am, break for lunch nearby
at 12:30 pm, then reconvene from 2-5 pm. $50. Limit 16 participants. Please
preregister by February 3rd. Need more

Egypt in Your Living Room
When people want to attend Egyptian Mystery School, they cannot always travel to Egypt. Things like family, money, politics, etc. get in the way. And when I teach on the road, people are not always able to travel to attend the workshops where I am teaching. So I am trying an experiment of a sort. I am going to teach online -- provided I have a class of about 8 people who would be willing to attend all 4 of the following workshops.
I am opening registration now and would love to hear from you before the end of the year. Send me a text and we can work out payments for the 4 classes (Checks, Square, Paypal, etc.) I want you to share your information widely with friends. I think we can do this class.
Egyptian
Mystery School
Two-hour online classes are held on Zoom at 9 pm
(Eastern) or 6 pm (Pacific) every third Thursday of each month. ($25) To

Normandi, Where Have You Been?
Please don't tell me it's been almost a year since I posted anything to my blog. That's no way to build a presence. Sorry, my friends. I was having a moment, or rather an entire year, in which I didn't want to BE a presence.
I just wanted to BE PRESENT!
To myself.
Even at that, it was still an incredibly full, vivid, active year for me. I don't know about you, but it sometimes seems that all of these time-saving, multiple messaging devices (like computers and cell phones and instant messages--and Facebook) are making it harder--not easier--to have significant conversations with people. It's even harder to have significant, important conversations with oneself to find a quiet, nurturing silence where one's true thoughts and feelings can be heard amid all the clamor for attention.
And let's not be an ostrich about it. There are plenty of things going on out there in the world to make a human being want to stand up and shout out, shout back, etc. It's all those voices though, out there and in here, you know, that make it harder and harder to do what is essential... Which is to Love Ourselves, to Heal Ourselves, and to Heal Our Planet.
It used to be that I often found that healing space inside the pages of my journal on a quiet morning, sitting on my front porch, listening to the wind in the trees and the birds in the branches. And I still do whenever I can. If you know the importance of these moments of sanity, you probably keep a journal too, and not a TO DO LIST instead of a journal. If you don't know it yet, it's not too late to learn how to hear yourself, how to hear your heart, how to listen to the most important conversations going on within you, around you, and inside your dreams.
And I've found over the years that having kept a journal going, I could go back and look up events of my life. What else was going on in my life that year that I was trying to write my first book and take care of a preschooler? What kinds of things did my father tell me during the last years of his life? Since I have kept these journals, I can return to them, dig through their treasures, their lessons, their gifts of spirit.Whether you keep a journal now, have kept one in the past, or want to begin to do so, I want to invite you to come to write with me. I will begin a year-long group writing project this January when we gather for the Annual Night of the Mothers Journal Writing Retrospective. Details are at the end of this blog. If you want to participate, shoot me an instant message on Facebook or email me. I only have room for 10 people this year.
What I hope to do throughout the year is to find a time and space to write in a similar fashion with other journalers in cafes and living rooms. Writing in groups is a wonderful way to not only say what you need to say, but to hear what you say when you read it out loud, and to surprise yourself by what you didn't know you felt until you said it. The group journal writing experience lends a kind of synergy to the experience of journaling.
Coffee and friendship are as good as it gets for journal writing. Saturday afternoons, or late nights... Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Egypt. Wherever I travel this year I will be somewhere sitting in a café or on a balcony writing. And I want you to join me. Physically if you can--and I'll let you know where I am. But certainly join me in the ethers if we are not in proximity. So here are the details for the first Journal event. Remember you do need to pre-register as there are only 10 spaces for this annual journal event.

@ Susan Caldwell's Home

9am - 5pm
Why is it called the Night of the Mothers? Because in nearly all sacred traditions, the great goddess births her holy child at winter solstice on the darkest night of the year, bringing forth the new light to a new season.
The Great Sky Mother wraps her arms around us, embraces us, and holds us and our dreams within her belly until we are reborn in the new year. All cultures are drawn to this inspiring vision of the night sky with its promised return of the light that celebrates the birth of the divine child. As we leave 2017 and herald in the changes of 2018, we usher in the light within us.
Through journal practice we can focus in and bring this divine light into expression through us. Gather your 2017 journals, datebooks, checkbooks, calendars & spend a few of the dark hours of winter looking backward through the past year, gleaning its lessons and gifts, then carrying your intentions into 2018. This is a great way to share, write, learn and gain new inspiration and wisdom.Normandi Ellis 318 Eastern Drive Chesterfield IN 46017

Honoring Ourselves We Heal Our World

IS PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE
Wednesday, Feb. 15th and Thursday, Feb. 16th
9:00am - 4:30 pm
North Seattle College
Nicki Scully & Normandi Ellis present a two day intensive pre-conference workshop:
Practical Applications of Egyptian Mysteries
and Becoming an OracleHieroglyphs, the medju neter or sacred symbols, were originally used when they first appeared in the pyramid of Unas. Their knowledge gives us truth and wisdom that is still relevant in today’s world. Given our new understanding of that ancient and sacred symbolic language, you will create your own cards, which together will create an oracle deck. You will practice reading your new cards with other students, after which we will combine the new oracle deck with the Anubis Oracle deck and do a reading for our country and the world. To accept responsibility for becoming an oracle, you will be asked to make a covenant with Ma’at, both a goddess and the concept of truth, harmony, cosmic order, justice and balance. You will also be given an empowerment that will awaken sensitivities that are either new or have atrophied in order to expand your intuitive capacities. This two-day seminar will be wrapped in teachings about creating your spiritual/metaphysical journal. This workshop is appropriate for anyone who is interested in healing or ministry work or is on a deep spiritual path that continues to unfold.
